Melaka and
Kuala Lumpur
I love the Chinese and their fish faucets.
We stayed across the street from this mosque. It was the first mosque either Sarah and I have ever visited. It was nice inside, mostly open space, but there was a rad light up board with postings of sunrise and sunset times and such to the hundredth of a second (or so, I didn't get a real good look). We weren't allowed to go in since we aren't muslim so we didn't get to really see the prayer area very well.
Sarah took this picture. Nice!
This is the return trip to an Indian place that serves an endless supply of mush and vegetables on a banana leaf. The first time we went to this restaurant, they put about 15 different types of mush on our leafs, piling up like an Edible Poo of Babel. It was wonderful food! Not poo-like at all!
This is me working on the last photo update.
Hurry up, Aaron!
Welcome to Kuala Lumpur. I got my first straight razor shave in KL. Advice for young travelers: Don't grow facial hair. If you must grow facial hair, don't bring it to Asia. If you must bring it to Asia, hide it as you would fruit from monkeys.
These are the Petronas Towers. Malaysians call them the twin towers. I'm writing this in a mall called Times Square. These were the tallest buildings in the world for a week or so before someone built the Taipei something-or-other in Taiwan. I haven't seen that one, but now having seen the rest of the world's tallest buildings, the Sears Tower, especially when you are right next to it, really seems like the tallest building in the world. The Sears Tower has a higher occupiable floor and its antannae are taller than the spires here, but people argued these were taller because spires are structural and the antennae are not. Whatever. The Petronas Towers are exquisite and have grounds.
The entrance. The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra plays here in a posh concert hall in the first floor of the towers. This is also a mall.
Kyle and Kai's wedding was fun. They had a tea ceremony for the family and then a 7 (or so) course dinner. This is the only picture we got of Kai and Kyle. No wedding pictures, though it was certainly worth photographing. Kai's family and Kyle and Kai themselves were super-generous hosts and so much fun! Thanks guys!
Linda is a friend of ours now, though she was only an acquaintance of a friend of ours when we first called her. She put us up for two nights and even took us out to dinner. She helped prep us for India and showed us around -- a real class act!
Why didn't you tell us you had a chain if hotels in Malaysia, Nora? Happy birthday! (Call my sister and wish her a happy birthday: 773-771-NORA)
