Penang, Malaysia

After spending almost 3 months here, Penang was our last stop in Malaysia before heading to India via Bangkok. We approached the island by ferry.

We had 2 great food moments in Penang. We learned that basting cauliflower in a spicy creamy sauce before cooking it in a tandoor is the best way to cook it. One of Sarah's and my favorite dishes from this region is Penang curry. It's on just about every Thai restaurant menu, but no one in Penang has ever heard of it. It took us way too long to figure out we just had to ask for "curry".

God's favorite flavor of incense is pink.

This mall was pretty gross. Got a little porn video game in the upper right and someone wrote "penis" on this game otherwise suitable for little kids.

I thought to add Mozart to this list of classics. Maybe when I own my own wall, I will.

This tuk-tuk ride was probably the only thing we stole on our trip. We negotiated a price to the pier before getting in. Our driver played tour guide despite our protests, took us all over town and tried to charge us for a tour when we arrived at the pier. I argued with him but ended up running off to barely catch our ferry. He tried to steal from us so we stole back. Not the ideal way to handle it, but that's how this cookie crumbled.
