Leaving Chengdu

Sarah and I visited the Waldorf School in Chengdu. It was fun. Here is some premium cooperation we witnessed out there.

Here I am with the trilingual 20 something German teacher. I'm not actually confused in this picture, but standing next to him, I look like the bona-fide-post-licking-town-idiot.

Matt Guay, we bought this clock for you but it stopped working on our trip so we took a picture of it for you and threw it out. Long live the Oversleep Excuse!

Get down, Jenny!

Jorin's like, "You gotta teach me that fly move, Jenny." And Jenny's like, "Oh, that little thing? I showed you already, Grasshopper. Get with the program!"

This is art.

We bought some paintings from an artist that teaches at the Waldorf school once a week. Her tiny place is stuffed full of gorgeous antiques. Here she's showing us her workspace and smaller treasures.

The Chengdu elite over for tea. This is the artist, a couple of Waldorf teachers that helped us in Chengdu, Sarah, myself, a photographer and the chief editors of two of Chendu's most popular magazines.

More Sarah art. A tea cup from the artist's house.

Another reason to love Liang Ning. She introduced me to this artist, Li Fong, and have since begun work on a cultural exchange project where I make him a Web site and he makes me some paintings. It has already proven to be a pleasure to work with him and his art is fantastic so keep an eye for his site! I'll have a link on my site for his once it is ready. Yeah!

Here's Li Fong painting.

Sarah's art. I'm all pensive and stuff. Check out these cool teas!

Check out our awesome hot water thermos and the backdrop to this righteous tea house.

Pretty bridge, willow and pagoda... but wait!

What are these crazy guys doing on this bridge?

...and them?

...and what's this? Whoa!

Sarah at Green Ram Temple. This place had an awesome vegetarian restaurant with terrible service.
     "Here is your bowl!"
"...but it's dirty and full of someone else's rice."
     "Fine!"
(slamming of bowl taken from another table onto our table)
    "Here!"
(loud chinese complaining and walking away)."

Gorgeous!

A tiny sample of an awesome menu at another vegetarian place.

All made of fake meat. We had the fake-fish covered in peppers. Out of this world!

Robodog Babe. It's Robot!

This was Qing Chung Shan mountian near Chengdu. It was drizzly and chilly all day, and the view from the top of the mountain was really stupid because we couldn't see even 10 feet in front of us, but the rest of the trip was awesome. Jesse has pictures of the canyons and bridges over chasms and such but we got a couple of pictures of the park before our camera batteries lamed out on us.

The view from the ferry across the lake.

The aforementioned ferry.

This is the front gate.

This is another one of these strange Chinese raining adornments. What are these guys doing?

Our valedictory dinner. We miss you guys!
